How To Make Waffles

So you want to know how to make waffles taste amazing every time, well we have included a couple of different recipe ideas here.  Starting with a basic waffle recipe that doesn’t use yeast as part of the process so is ideal if you have a yeast allergy or your cupboard is stocked with these basic ingredients only.

How To Make Waffles

You can make this waffle batter from scratch but for best results I would recommend that you prepare this the day before you need it.  I have also made this recipe without the need to weigh out your various ingredients so it’s a fun and quick way to make delicious waffles on your waffle iron.

Waffle Ingredients

  • 2 eggs (separated)
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 tablespoon full of melted butter
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour,
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder,
  • salt (1/2 teaspoon)

How To Make Waffles Part One

Separate the egg yolks from the whites, but don’t throw the egg whites away, your need these for part two.

Mix the egg yolks and sugar in a bowl, until it forms a smooth texture and the sugar has fully dissolved. Then add the milk and melted butter, and continue to mix until you have a nice consistent mixture.

For best results, cover with cling film and leave in the bowl in a fridge over night, and mix again before moving on to stage two.

How To Make Waffles Part Two

Put the all purpose flour, baking powder, salt (all of the dry ingredients) into a separate bowl and make a hole in the middle of the mixture.  Slowly start to pour some of the egg mixture into the hole that you have made. 

With a wooden spoon slow circulate the egg mixture, and gently allow the flour to start to mix in with this.

This process is slow, but its the easiest way to ensure that your mixture is smooth and without lumps.  Continue to mix the batter slowly adding more egg mixture as required.  Do this until you have no egg mixture left and a nice even and smooth batter.

Part Three

With the remaining egg whites, beat them until the mixture begins to leave peaks.  Now you need to carefully fold the egg whites into the batter mixture.  Be carefully not to mix it to much at this stage otherwise you will lose all of the air in the egg white mixture.

All you need to do now is to bake your waffles,  So just put one cup of batter in to the preheated iron waffle and close it.
